The Mountain/Water Series

The immediate inspiration for this series was seeing the geological marvels of Bryce Canyon in Utah. It also owes something to my love of classical Chinese ink painting with its emphasis on abstract and fluid rhythms and on the synthesis of complementary natural opposites. The dualism of rock and water is characterized in these works by a transformative interaction of the two elements; one interchangeably giving birth to the other, in a vital flow of consonant form expressive of “life-movement.”
